2. COMPOSITION


Aqueous solution of nutritive elements and growth indicator for Sulfate Reducing Bacteria count.


Hazardous Ingredients: not present as defined by EEC hazardous components list.






3. HAZARDS INDICATION


The solution in the sealed vials may irritate eyes and skin





4. FIRST AID MEASURES


Skin Contact: flush plenty of water


Eye Contact: hold eyes open, flooding with water for at least 5 minutes. Seek medical attention if irritation

persist. .


Ingestion: rinse mouth with water. If discomfort arises, seek medical attention.



 

5. FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES


Suitable Extinguishing Media: no restrictions, the product is not flammable.


Unsuitable Extinguishing Media: no restrictions.


Special Hazards in Fire: fire exposition with a rapid temperature rise may induce vial explosion

 


6. ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES


Personal Precautions: no toxic vapours are released by accidental breakage. Avoid skin contact with the

content of the vial and wear protective gloves during the manipulation of the liquids

and glass fragments.


Environmental Precautions: vial content and washings may be disposed off through sewage according to

local regulations, or sent to the waste water treatment.


Methods for Cleaning: wipe the liquid. Wash the surface with water and dispose off glass fragments



 


7. HANDLING AND STORAGE


Handling: no special handling requirements are necessary. Avoid accidental direct contact with vial content.


Storage: store at no more than 25 °C to not reduce the shelf life.

Personal Protection: product handling does not require any particular precaution. Normal use excludes any

direct contact between the operator and vials content.


Respiratory Protection: none


Hand Protection: none. Avoid contamination of the seal before the injection of the liquid to be tested.

Industrial Hygiene: avoid direct contact or with contaminated tools with the seal.

13. DISPOSAL CONSIDERATION


Not used vials:

Vials ingredients are not toxic so the liquid culture medium can be disposed off through sewage according to local regulations, or sent to the waste water treatment, if the expiration date is over . Empty vial can be reclaimed by simple washing with water and recycled or disposed off as a non dangerous material.


Inoculated vials:

If the injected liquid contains toxic ingredients, follow instruction for the disposal of such substances.

Is advisable to neutralize bacteria growth eventually present in injected vials by thermal sterilization (autoclaving or one hour boiling) or by chemical sterilization (1 ml injection of bleach liquor).

If thermal sterilization is used is recommended to put the vials in thermal resistant bags to avoid liquid spreading trough the pierced seal during the heating.
